Safety case and follow-up work

A safety case might be described as documented assurance to the board, management or a regulator that an existing complex site or activity is safe to operate. A safety case and a business case should be part of a proposal for any proposed complex site or activity.

Case Study:

  • The Board of a NZ client expressed concern about the safety of several sites handling large quantities of a hazardous substance. We carried out a risk assessment that was comparable to a safety case. Recommendations from the report involving major capital expenditure are still being implemented some years after completion of the project.

  • We subsequently gave advice about the proposed development of a major community facility close to one of the sites.

A wise buyer always thinks about what they are going to buy before starting their shopping trip.

Choosing a consultant is no different. Different consultants have different skills and experience.

Working through the attached guidance might help you think about your choices.
