Effective risk management requires communication and consultation at each stage of the process. ISO 31000 describes how the risk management framework should include a plan for communication and consultation with external stakeholders.
Our communications services help clients communicate risk messages in plain English. The complete service we offer includes:
- developing drafts based on information supplied by clients - this may require adapting technical language into plain English
- after the text has been laid out by a designer, testing the text and design with focus groups to help ensure the intended message is clear.
- We are also asked to review or edit documents to help ensure they will be understood by the intended recipients.
A joint Standards New Zealand/Standards Australia handbook (HB 327:2010 Communicating and consulting about risk) sets out further information on risk communication and can be bought from Standards New Zealand.
